Leave on or power off?

My laptops off for about 20seconds when it decides to overheat , it's mostly running of it's battery

I've always left mine on 24/7. The only time I'll shut it off is if I'm away for a few days or away on vacation.

My old P4 which was 3 years old was left on 24/7 and never had a problem.

When I want to use it, I'm also too lazy to wait for it to boot up so that's another reason I just leave it on all the time.

I leave mine on all the time. I have a quiet system so doesn't bother me when I sleep. The only three times I have had it off in the last 2 1/2 years is when I went on vacation twice and once when the power went off!

i leave mine on standby when im not around, i have t set so if i wal kaway and dont coem abck for 15 minuts it goes stand by.
