i'll second Lex by saying study for the A+. It's a typical starting point for people wanting to learn hardware and software. The Meyers book is prolly the most recommended.

Nothing beats experience though, go to the dump and pick up a junk computer. I found a p3 over a year ago that I am still using as a firewall and all the basics are the same.

^good idea theoretically, but computers are usually at a dump for good reason. Schools usually have computers they wasn't to sell for very cheap...and businesses going out of business sell them for VERY cheap.

Okay, thank you everyone for voicing opinions, I will buy the A+ book soon, I have been reading the forums and looking at tutorials on pro proofs. tyvm everyone ^^
