i am in the process of getting an LCD monitor for my PC.

I have been shopping around, both in stores and on the internet, and i need some help on deciding an LCD monitor.

What is refresh rate?
Is 15-inches a good size, or should i move up to 17-inch?
Is it worth it to get a cheap brand name?

There is a good deal for a 19-inch CRT monitor, which would be nice, but which type of monitor (LCD or CRT) will be better in the long run for quality and value?

how does a person thats been here since May 2005,has 2361 posts and is a "Wizard Techie" ;) know so little about computers, i've been here like 2 months, and i no quite a bit already, considering i new nothing coming in here.

don't be an *** john.

Tallguy, I'd get an LCD. A 17" LCD is going to be really close in size to the 19" CRT. They're measured differently. The LCD's actually measure viewing size.

I have a 15" LCD, and love it compared to my old CRT. I'm not going back.

If gaming, look for 16ms or less response time. 16ms response is tolerable, 12 is good, and 8 is great. Anything lower than that will start breaking the bank.
