Default laptop question?

I got an IBM laptop for cheap it is a refurbished. Thing is, it does not have an ethernet card(new to laptops) like my pc but does have a phoneline. I have road runner connected to two pc's through a router(not wireless), What is the best way to get my laptop connected to the internert cheaply? A wireless card? but dont I have to change my router to wirerless? can I get a outside connection?

Do you have a PCMCIA slot (sometimes called PC card slots) anywhere? You could get a PCMCIA ethernet adapter. Preferably one without a dongle, those often seem loose. I've seen them for around $20.

This (built-in port)

as opposed to this (dongle)
