laptop buzzing a bit...?

i got this laptop that's kinda old (2000) and it's been buzzing quite loudly lately. what do u guys think it can be? the hard drive or the cpu or its fan? that humm, when a laptop starts is the hard drive, right? i'm purdy sure it's the hdd.

This is a really tough question to answer without hearing the "buzz."

If it's more of a grinding noise, I would say HDD. If it is a true buzz, very high pitched, I would suggest a fan.

well, say it is a fan, is that possible and/or easy to replace? i'm trying to upgrade/repair my laptop for school.

Laptops are not really that much more work then a desktop to repair, just smaller.
Fans are easy to replace, but can be hard to find on occation. Most of the time you have to get a FRU from the vendor to fix the problem.

I'd make sure that all the screws that secure your Harddrives Case, and fans were tight. See if that doesn't help.
