Thanks for the link; it helped a lot. But it did say that 256 kB of L2 can efficiently cache 64 MB of RAM. So with larger RAM, the L2 size should also increase (linearly, 1 GB of RAM would require 4 MB of L2, and there isn't that much L2 available yet I don't think). How much L2 is normally needed to run just basic programs (internet, explorer, background processes etc.)?
