keyboard settings help

Can anyone explain why (on a colleagues work laptop) after changing from US to UK keyboard, the keys on right hand side of board give numbers (as shown on top right of buttons) instead of the required letters?
This only happens when one of two users is logged in!

What settings have I disrupted unintentionally, and how can I change back?

Try changing the settings to a UK keyboard...

But before that, some laptops have a function key... try using that to turn off number lock and see if that helps.

With regards to it happening with only one user... I dont know.

I would have thought so...

Depending on the setup in config.sys , determines if NUM lock is on when the computer is booted... this doesn't (i dont think) contain data for each user.

Therefore, if the problem effects one, all the others should have the same problem.

Did using the function key help... at least allow you to type letteres with these keys (rather than numbers)?
