Keyboard gone mad

On my Laptop (IBM thinkpad T42) some keys are typing out numbers instead of characters.. like k is replaced by 6 ..
any idea on whats wrong?

i dont know how to explain fixing it but i know what you are talking about. its a "fn" function that you need to turn off. Thats the best i can put it.
