Hello, Since I have this old PIONEX working again finally, I have noticed the green light in the CD ROM makes a quick blink roughly once about every second even when not using the CD ROM. Everything seems to be working fine I just don't remember the light blinking when we got this heap new. Kinda nice to have this over priced pile of junk going again, [we bought it brand new early in 2000] Never worked right from day one. I hear PIONEX is no more? That true? I know a couple people that bought one new and had no end of problems with them. :D ALso would this mess of antique parts run windows 2000 decent? TomW

specs on the old heap,
one 12 gig bigfoot HDD
one 6 gig bigfoot HDD
AMD K6-2 / 500 CPU
two 64mb and one 32mb PC100 dimm sticks
biostar M5ALA ver2.0 motherboard
Cirrus Logic pnp V34 fax modem
ES 1869 sound card
Intel 740 [apollo 7400] video card
15" monitor
NEC 282 CD ROM
linksys fast ethernet 10/100 network card
lexmark Z23 printer
Imation floppy drive
sound blaster SBS250 speakers
total of 5 fans in it
I don't remember specs on power supply, I never wrote it down,
all stuff got used on Ebay [for cheap] or came with machine eccept floppy and speakers, got them new.
only original parts are power supply and video card

Nice little system to run as a Firewall/Antivirus unit, might want to invest in a little more RAM though.

I have a AMD 800MHz, 512MB PC133 RAM, 128MB Radeon 9000 Pro, 20GB WD 7,200 ATA100 HDD and I run Norton Antivirus and Firewall on it only. It protects my main system and my secondary system (AMD Athlon 1.4GHz, 512MB DDR333, 128MB GeForce 4 Ti4200) - but because my main system doesn't need any internet security software on it it has all its 1GB Corsair 3200 XMS Paired (Dual Channelled) RAM totally free for gaming!
