iTunes doesn't recognize my external CD-RW but OS X does

Anytime i try to burn a music CD from iTunes using my phillips CD-RW drive (via usb 1.0) It doesn't recognize it. However, when i use Roxio Toast Titanium v 5.0, it works seamlessly. iTunes also says that when my burner is plugged in, it is not there. But when i'm not in iTunes and i need to copy software or files to a CD, OS X recognizes it. Can anyone be of assistance to me?

heh, what was wrong? i just went to itooons and like found that and posted it... heh

My CD-RW drive just doesn't communitcate with "iToooons" well. I may need to upgrade some of my drivers.
