I have a question regarding the pins on a parallel port connecting a printer to a computer. I learned from howstuffworks (HowStuffWorks "How Parallel Ports Work") that as long as the computer is receiving a charge on Pin 13, it knows that the device is online. If you are having issues putting your printer online, is there a way to check if the issue is that you are not receiving any signal or a corrupted signal from pin 13 or if its something else? I wouldn't want to replace the printer if the fix could have been just replacing the connector.
