I must admit, I've removed the heatsink...several times...I don't know why. Could cracked thermal pads be the cause to high CPU temperatures?
You should use a new coat of thermal paste or a new thermal pad each time you remove the heatsink. If you haven't done this, it could be the reason for you high temps.

id reccomend buying a new heatsink/fan and some arctic silver at www.newegg.com, get a brand name like thermaltake or antec and dont cheap out too much because that sounds way too hot, double my idling temp.

i guess i would reccomend this since it has great reviews

and the AS5

YEa instead of using a pad you should use paste instead cause it worx alot better. and that temp is way to hot. i would shut your computer down until you work out some sort of cooling and be cheap about your cooling cause it could mean the life of your computer. Just getr something from a name brand and some AS5 and youll be set, and when you put a layer of paste on your cpu make sure its real thin but enough to be there.
