Once or twice a day my keyboard dies on me.
Sometimes I might be typing, and suddenly every time I hit the keyboard nothing happens on screen, but the internal speaker "beeps" quietly.
I have a packbell iMedia machine. It's still under warrantty, but I dont want to be stuck without a PC for a week or two while they take it away to look at it.

I've tried old keyboards in it, and get the same problem.

When I called Customer Support they said it's probably a buildup of static on the motherboard, and to unplug the keyboard, switch off, plus a mouse in the keyboard socket, boot up, switch off, unplug the mouse and touch it to ground (metal surface), then plug the keyboard back in, and re-boot.

This seems to work, but I have to do it twice a day :S

It might be a loose connection, and all the fiddling about with cables makes it work. I really dont know though :S

Anyone got any ideas? Would I be better just buying a USB keyboard?
