I have a internal burner with an external box therefore i am able to put the internal into the box and it becomes external burner. now i havn't really been able to burn with it though, my computer can't keep up and i can't change the writing speed.

i'll get back to you on what my computer is, because i know its pretty much crap, but it works, so it's probably the computer is not fast enough to support the burner.

Use Nero. You can turn down the speed with that program.

I'm not a big Nero fan.. it messed up my registry and I had to manually correct it so windows could recognize my CDR Drive. Anyways, most decent programs will allow you change speeds.

IMO, Accoutica has the best programs.
