That's just mind blowing. Period. Especially comparing it to what they did in 1996 haha.

but all i get from that article is that its all just theory. they say its being researched still. and they said they dont even know if there is an OS intelligent enough to handle the chip which means it hasnt even been made or done a terra calculation.

It's still in the research phase, but they've actually built an 80-core sample and tested it. That's how they know it can reach 1 teraflop with a reasonable power consumption (65W!).

Here's Intel's Tera-Scale Project page. I was checking it this morning, it's actually quite interesting.
