Installing CPU Question

ok i just got a motherboard/processor combo off tigerdirect.com. it only came with the cpu so i bought a cpu fan and some heat sink gel. how do i apply the heat sink gel properly? i don't wanna kill the cpu.

You get a Ziploc bag, put your finger in it, get some gel, put a small amount on the CPU, then rub it on with your finger. Make sure it's an even surface. If you have excess gel, get a credit card, and swipe the edges.

make sure that you do it paper thin, because if you have excess, it will kill the purpose for having the cooling gel and it wont transfer any heat thru the heatsink/fan
