Hello, here are the specs on the machine:
Sony VIO
XP
Pentium 4 1.4 GHz
128 MB RAM

The system described above runs great. What I am trying to do is take a Hard Drive from an older machine (a self build with Windows 2000 installed) and install it in the Sony machine w/out reformatting it so I can keep all of the files that are on the old drive. I tried just plugging the drive in, but when I tried to boot, the computer gave me a system boot error, which I am assuming is because the cpu thinks the new drive is the master hard drive instead of a slave. I think I have to adjust the 'jumpers' to let the computer know I want the 2nd hard drive to be a slave drive, but aside from that is there anything else I need to do to get access to the old hard drive in my new machine? Thanks in advance.

you should just need to adjust the Jumpers and make sure the boot order in the BIOS is correct

u can also try to do it through the cable select
primary should have the jumpers on
secondry need not have any-ie slave
-that would work

So do you think I will or will not have to adjust anything in the bios? If so, what setting would it be? I've yet to explore changing BIOS options. Thanks for the replies!
