Installed memory, now programs crashing

Hi, I got a new computer yesterday and installed new memory in it today. It worked perfectly at first but now my programs are freezing up and crashing (this usually happens soon after I open the program) any ideas what the problem might be? It looks like its the new memory, my computer (emachines D3024) needs PC3200 specifically (not 2700 or 4000) so that is the kind I got for it.

maybe you got faulty memory

run memtest86+ to check

If the memory tests fine then turn off the auto reboot function in Windows to find out what the blue screen says and let us know.

Turn off auto reboot function:

Control panel
system icon
system properties
advanced tab
startup and recovery button
half way down the page will be restart on errors, uncheck that box.

Doing this will cause a blue screen to come up and the info on that will help us diagnos the problem.

maybe your mobo doesnt support pc 4000 of ram... it can use pc2700 bec. it is backwards compatible... but may not work with newer versions of ram
