Default Inserted new RAM, pc wouldn't boot

I inserted a stick of 512MB pc100 RAM, in my pc.

Its running with a AMD K-5, 500MHZ, i think.

When I put the RAM in and started back up, I got the following message:

NO SIGNAL INPUT....floating across the monitor.

If I put the RAM in the wrong way, can it damage the RAM or the PC. I took the RAM back out and still got the same message>>>

Can anyone help me plz

PC100 was still keyed, so you could only put it in once way. If you take it out and there is no memory in the board, then you won't boot either.
It's possible too that you are beyond the usable size of your board. There were smaller limitations back then...

when u boot, it goes directly to the no signal input? or can u get to bios?
Unplug everything, and replug it all, open up ur case, make shur all if plugged in good and tight. Most problems are because of this.

man, that is really wierd. If u dont mind reformatting, take ur hard drive out of the pc, and put it in an other one, and reformat, then put it back and c if u can get into bios.
