IBM term defined = Memory "Channel"??
When IBM uses phrases like
"To optimize the performance of the RDRAM technology, each channel is limited to 32 devices."
from http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=psg1MIGR-4ECT8D
or "To optimize the performance of the Rambus technology, there is a limitation of 32 devices on a particular channel."
from http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=psg1MIGR-4VYRRJ
What does channel mean?
does it refer to total memory limit for the system? or
the max limit of each memory RIMM or RDRam? or
is a channel, a pair of RIMM sockets? (as RIMM memory chip upgrades are added in pairs).
Thanks
