Default IBM joins the dual core market

Interesting, wonder if this will change the switch to x86 by Apple at all?

A pair of dual core G5's inside a system would make for a very very speedy machine. With the advantages of RISC architecture, with the proper software I think it beats anything else out there at the moment.

Dual processor g5s have been out for quite a while. They perform at the same level or better than dual core. Might be a whole new arcitecture though.

Dual processors yes, dual cores are new for IBM, put a pair of dual core PPC chips coupled with OS X which handles SMP very well and you have the makings of an incredibly speedy PC..........the new dual core IBM chips are RISC architecture like the existing lineup of PPC CPU's.

I wonder if the new g5s will need more efficient water cooling, considering the added heat issues of having two cores in one processor.
