Don't get a SB live 24-bit, whatever you do. My (ahem) SB live 24-bit only has EAX 2.0.

!@#$!!!

No doom 3 in EAX for me . . .

yea when it comes to cheap, good quality soundcards you cant beat creative.

(i have Audigy 2 ZS)

Yeah, get a nice creative. I dont care what anybody says about them, they are good cards and crank some serious sound!

Turtle beach is the way to go, the santa cruz is an older card, dont know much about the new one. Turtle Beach sound much better than soundblaster as well, however audigy's have beat them on system utizlation.

Have you considered getting a motherboard with onboard audio? Or are you just looking to replace your soundcard rather than your whole motherboard?

In the future, if you plan to build a new computer, a lot of motherboards have onboard audio so there is no need for a soundcard. My motherboard came with a SB-live 24-bit. But I do have to say that I agree Shazbot. The quality is fine, but whatever control programs they give you to customize your settings is very lousy. I was better off with my Audio HQ from my Soundblaster Live! Value card on my old PC.
