I have an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard and just got a 4X AGP video card. The motherboard says it supports 8X cards, but does that mean only 8X or 1X/2X/4X/8X? Basically just 8X or all the way up to 8X?

Your 4x card should work just fine, most mobos support 2x/4x/8x. Though some newer ones might not play nice with 2x cards, like Gigabyte's GA-7VAX, because of voltage differences between 2x and 4x.

I checked the manufacturer's website for the video card, and it said that the 4X operates at 1.5V, and I looked in the motherboard instruction book and it says that the slot supports 1.5V, so theoretically it should work right?

Thanks all for your help. This first time build stuff was harder than I thought it would be, but I learned a lot and it was fun, so I guess it was worth it.
