I see the new P-M Dothan is still a Socket 478 CPU, so it should fit work in a desktop P4 mobo right? How would it compare to say the Prescott speed wise?
Dothan is Mobile chipset, why r u thinking to use it on the desktop, of course mobile processors are made to save power and that means that not matche with desktop's performance.
Thats why I said hypothetical If you don't have the answer then don't reply
Prescott though is a fireball though, extremely hot, and Dothan boasts impressvie specs 2MB L2 cache, same socket as Northwood, same instructions as Northwood and at 2ghz
Does anyone know for a fact what the performance difference would be?
very little performance difference
I believe the mobile processors run slower only when they're running on battery power - if you had say a 1.6GHZ processor (which my dad has) it would run at 1.2GHZ on batteries
