Default HTPC/Media center

Just trying to get an idea in my head how much this will be. This is all hypothetical.

I plan on making a home theater/audio system. Pioneer VSX-816 receiver, home-built speakers (*), home theater PC (using as generic term).

I want to build a PC so i can record programs onto my HDD, burn those recorded programs to DVD (unless it's illegal), and play music. I want the PC audio out to go to the A/V receiver (VSX-816) so the music will come from the speakers i build, and connect the PC to a TV to use as a monitor. I've searched Google and TF and found things similar to this, but not exact enough.

I know, for sure, i want to use Corsair ValueSelect 1GB RAM, Sony DVD-RW drive, and Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA drive. I want to keep it as cheap as possible, while getting all the features.

* - 4 satellites in a WWMMTT config. One center channel, MTM. Powered subwoofer.

Side note: Wow, i must sound greedy. I used "i want" way too much in this.

As always, help is greatly appreciated!

At this point, no preference on manufacturer because i'd like to make it dual-core, but if it doesn't need to be dual, i'll stick with AMD. Pretty dang cheap these days, IMO. And i just need some help finding the direction i need to go to make this PC the way i'd like it.

Edit: And i want to add that i don't have a preference on Windows vs Linux. I hear a bunch about MythTV, but i don't have a clue as to what it is.

MythTV is pretty easy to setup with Ubuntu, you just need to get a TV Tuner that is supported by MythTV for it to be easy. All I had to do with my PVR-150 was apt-get install mythtv, but the remotes and everything are a pain in the *** to get setup, you'd be better off with Windows if you don't have much experience with stuff like that.
