I called a local computer place and asked if they had an ETA for the Venice core cpu's. The clerk didn't seem to understand what a venice core was, but after I explained, he said he 'thinks' they have them in stock now. I'm going to go check it out tonight, but how can I tell from the retail box if it's a venice core? I don't want to rely on some salesclerk that evidentally doesn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground. The reputable local stores don't have them yet, so no help there.

Thx

Greg

I can get it cheaper than NCIX at canadasys.com, but I think they might be a bunch of bufoons. It would be nice if I could tell before buying the cpu.....

They "claim" to have Venice:

Athlon 64 - 3000 ( ADA3000BIBOX ) / Venice ( ADA3000BPBOX ) $184 / 191

hm.. I should check it out as well. I don't believe the ncix price matching option will work here since ncix says the website must have full e-merchant support with SSL capable channels and such.. But guess it's worth a try

If it's a venice it'll say

"AMD64 90nm Rev. E"

That Rev. E denotes that it's a venice opposed to winchester
