I have a WD external HDD that I want to try and remove the casing so I can connect it via sata. These externals should have a sata port in them right? The case has no screws and I can't get to come off at all.

Any ideas?

EDIT: The method of pulling as hard as I can seemed to work! haha

However there is not a sata port on this hdd...that is strange!!!

LOL, not it isn't strange. Have you ever taken apart one before? You are using a USB HDD correct? So there is probably a converter that converts the ATA into USB.

I've spoke to some shops that have claimed that taking apart those external HDD have made the drives inoperable, and that they don't have the standard ATA connection on the hard drive. I haven't taken one apart myself.

it should be standard ATA or SATA.....i've taken apart several, and it's just a regular hdd with a converter to convert it to USB or ESATA as you said
