How to place motherboard tray mounts?

I've run across these before, the brass motherboard tray mounts, but I've never really needed to use them. In this case the motherboard manual requires that I use them to prevent a short from the long Solder pins. Theres no real description of how to use these brass mounts, can anyone explain? I am assuming I just place them on the motherboard tray and then place the motherboard on top of them, but in certain areas it brings the motherboard above the I/O slots.

Can someone explain to me how to use these?

depends on the case. some need it some don't. If it goes above the i/o dont use them, and vice versa.
