Default How often should a computer be put into sleep?

To get to the point, I believe I may be damaging my computer. I often go between playing on my computer and Xbox, and when I play on the Xbox I put my computer in sleep, only to wake it 5 minutes later to listen to music or something. So my question is, is it unhealthy for a computer to constantly brought in and out of sleep-mode say 5-10 times a day? Also, could freezing, I/O problems, and video card failing to wake be symptomatic of this?

Sleep will not harm your computer, It just runs all the processes in RAM, as you would be using it regularly. It wouldn't touch the GFX are any other ports. Just be sure to shut it down every now and then to refresh the RAM.

If its going to hurt anything, its going to stress actual components on the boards due to thermal cycling.

I doubt you'll do any damage, and maybe shorten the life by a year or two. That's basically droping it down to 48yrs from 51 years.
