how much RAM

i was trying to spruce up my old machine
and i discovered it had only 32 megs of RAM on it.

i just want it to run one or two programs at one time.
how much RAM do you think i would need, at the moment it is painfully slow.

where can i go and get some cheap RAM, i dont want to dish out too much cash.

well depends what u wanna do ....if u wanna play games go for at least 512, and if u just need it for the net and so on then 256 should be ok

Don't forget that it really depends on what your motherboard can support. IF the max amount of memory is 512 for example, putting anything more than that is liable to cause your computer to crash.

How old is your PC? It might use a different type of memory if it is more than 3 years old.

Just a few things to take into consideration.

the PC is 4 years old. it's got a AMD K6-2 500 MHz processor
