How much do you spend on hardware?

when you splash out on new hardware, how much do you spend?


Personally, i spend close to £900 when i'm getting a new computer, i hardly ever upgrade.

i'd say 0.5-2 hours

you see, I get old crap (yes, computer crap) for free. then i just throw it together and see what happens (usually nothing much).

at the moment i'm building a 1 Ghz Athlon based system with GePoint2 MX 32Mg and 640Mg ram.

lol.. apart from buying a new computer, which was about $1400.. I dont spend nething on new stuff.

Yeah I don't really spend anything on a monthly basis, but lately this month I've spent about $100-200 on it. Other than the $1400 I paid for it (after tax) I haven't really spent much so far.

I dont have a monthly hardware addiction, like most people. But when the time comes for me to buy hardware, I dont skimp. I usually buy several things more than what I really need and spend several hundred dollars.

i've spent $0 since i built my comp (feb 05). i may be getting a few parts for it soon though.

I can't afford to be spending a lot on hardware, although I do buy stuff occasionally. I spent $2000 on my system now when i built it last june. I am planning on getting a new graphics card this summer, then building again in summer 2006, for Unreal Engine 3.

$1,000.00+ every six months, and I'm getting ready for my June order. I might trim it down to $500 next December.

If you figure that out for a monthly basis it's like $166.67.

For me, it all really depends on what is currently out there. When Doom 3 was released, I had my old computer and it could not even run the Beta. So I upgraded. I could not have a computer that couldnt run anything! And then, out came Half Life 2, and away went my job. But I'm working now, and am saving to buy new stuff. My OC rig, damn, when I build that thing I'll be able to run the world!
