Exclamation how to make entire hd image to back up

the software that came with my external usb harddrive only lets me select folders to backup. the problem is, i want to set up my raid array and i just want to hook up the external hd and then load all my games, windows, etc from there. how do i load everything, including my os, onto the external hd? i thought maybe make a image of the entire hd?
