Nobody knows much about Windows ME because nobody likes it.

But you most definitely will need the CD's to format your hard drive.

if u want to perform only a formatting then cd is not reqired.by using a windows startup floppy u can format the hdd.one thing copy format.com to the floppy.because by default format command will not be there in floppy

Yeah, you don't need a cd to do a reformat, only to reinstall.

I don't understand what everyone means by "reformatting" - could somebody tell me what this means please?

LOL!!! I think it's funny that you told the guy that you "definitely don't need the CD's to reformat your hard drive" and then you ask the question "what is reformatting"?? LOL

If you've formated your hard drive once and you plan to format it again then you are reformating. Just means that you are doing it again.
