How do I extend a ribbon cable?

I'm doing some custom automotive work. I'm custom mounting a 2.5" T.V. in my center console. I took the T.V. apart for fitment purposes. The screen is attached to the board by only a ribbon. The ribbon is half an inch long. I was wondering if it is possible to extend the ribbon. I put my question in this forum because though it is an automotive application my question itself has nothing to do with cars. Thanks in advance everyone.

Do you have a picture of the ribbon cable? Some manufacturers use different ribbon types.
