how do I build my own external HD

Ive seen on ebay external HD enclosures for pretty cheap. So if I got one of those, I would just get a regular internal HD and hook it up. Do you need any extra wiring stuff or would that come with the enclosure.
 
The wiring for it should be in the enclosure. All you have to do is hook up the hard drive and place it in the enclosure and you're done.
 
What do you mean by USB powered? The enclosure connect to the computer using USB and/or Firewire but power comes from a seperate cable (at least mine does).
 
ive just been trolling newegg and ive seen a couple on that are powered through the usb which seems kinda cool unless i guess it would drain a laptop battery pretty fast
 
hmmm in not entirely sure that usb can give the full current that the hdd needs.... to be safe id go with one that is externally powered
