how to connecting apple mini to vga monitor?

I expecting an mac mini anyday soon, and would like to know how to connect to vga monitor.

I have a small adapter one side dvi and other vga.

I expect Ill recieve apple hdmi to dvi cable.

So if I plug hdmi into mac. the small adapter into dvi end of apple cable. then further more attach vga cable from monitor into small adapter.

will it work? Or do i need some kind of converter. I heard vga to hdmi doesnt work but does hdmi output to vga input.

I'm not entirely sure, but they do make HDMI to DVI cables. Now, if it will work or not, not 100% sure.

I believe that you cannot go through HDMI -> DVI -> VGA. Too many variables, the signal will be bad if it works.

ive solved the problem hdmi to vga wont work as its digital to analogue.
But the thunderbolt port on mini mac is backward compatible with mini display port.
So i purchased a 21 pound apple mini display port to vga cable from pc world.(plus its real apple not copy)
Now my vga monitor works fine.
