Default Hot CDs!

My CD drive went bad, so a friend gave me an older one he had lying around. It seems to work fine EXCEPT when I eject the CD, if it's been in there for any time at all, it is HOT! Not to the point it'll melt or anything but I don't remember any CD's ever being that warm.

So my question: Is this okay? Should I replace it? The "new" drive is an older Acer CD-RW.

If my drive were doing that, then I'd test another one. If the other one doesn't make the CDs hot, then get rid of the first drive and get a new one.

The CDs work great, either just burned (almost literally) or commercial ones. However, if Acers normally operate at a higher temp, I guess I'll stay with it. Besides, it'll be good for hand warmers this winter.

BTW, I'm a "virgin techie"?! Yikes! I better find some stuff to post on, eh?

My old burner used to do that. It won't harm anything but keep your CD's out of the drive aas much as you can. too much heat can warp your discs

I've had warm discs....but its usually ones coming out of being read by the DVD-ROM regardless if it's a DVD I just mean a CD in general. Don't think my burner has ever produced any hot CD's before, but like they said maybe it's just spinning at a fast RPM, cause I know my burner is pretty slow.
