Default is this to hot?

hi guys i have a p4 2.4 ghz intel chip

when my pc is starting up in the bios it shows the cpu temp at 55 C
and that is with the side panel off is this to hot?

i am using my standard heat sink and fan

just asking for your opinions

I believe for an Intel that is pretty hot as they usually run cooler than AMD's, but I really don't know Intel that well so perhaps I'm wrong...usually you get better temps with the side panel on if you have fans because it creates a vaccuum to move the air around. For a temporary solution you could aways put in a box fan

hhmm i just had a thought that will work out better than the box fan i have put my pc in my freezer wow a a big diffrence it it now running at 10 C and thats at full load

Man what are you smoking,just go out and buy a new heatsink and fan so you won't have to buy a new comp it's alot cheaper.(and i thought i was pushing the limit's with my hose deal)
