ahh ok nubius you got me. i just went to the options and it is stuck on DX8.1 hardware and DX9.0 software under the video options.

switch it to Dx9 and see what happens. i'll tell you this, it won't be pretty.

You can force the card up to 9 with a command

what command? i wanna try it to see if my card stays up to par at 30fps.

yeah, its like "dxlevel90" in the console, or somthing like that. and if you want to put it back, its dxlevel81

just so you know, you won't be able to see water and...just...its going to look like sh*t, and its going to run even worse.

PP I can basically guarantee you it won't come close to 30FPS....when I was reading up on the 6800GT and X800 series from ATI when they were first being released, they were showing benchmarks in various games, and didn't include the FX series because even the 5950 couldn't perform worth a damn in HL2 with DX9 forced.
