Help with video capture cards

OK im sorry if any thing i say makes any one feel, bad because of my new nes to this, but im looking too buy a capture card because i would like to record my Halo 2 games on my xbox and then put them on my pc edit them and make movie type things called montages

i just need inof on what exactly i need to know about them
what i need to get
maybe some links fro examples
and im trying to keep this as low budget as possible

any other things you think i should know will help
