Help...I want an external monitor for my laptop...

I've recently become sort of frustrated with the size of the screen (14.1) on my Lenovo T61 (so it doesn't have DVI) when I'm trying to do multiple things at once, which is most of the time. I want to get an external monitor (preferably 19" or larger)...but I don't know what to get...I want something that will last me through college hopefully (high school senior right now) and I'm on a tight budget 'cause I'm paying for this myself.

Advice/help/whatever?

No/not much more than $200 for a monitor I guess, and the less I have to pay the better.
