I recently purchased a computer from the local comp store.

They gave me this mobo-cpu combo.
Abit kv8pro 64bit mainboard
and a
AMD Athlon XP 3200+

I'm guessing the processor isn't 64bit, so there really is no need to have the 64bit motherboard. True or false?

And also what do you think about this combination.

Thanks in advance.

Something is wrong!

The motherboard that you have specified is compatible with the Athlon64 (Socket 754), while the CPU requires a Socket A (Athlon XP) motherboard.

Are you sure this was the combo?

Perhaps the CPU is an Athlon64 3200+, because the motherboard sounds right (KV8-PRO).

agex, you are most likely right~ thanks for the info. All I have is the spec sheet to go by.

Let's hope there both 64bit! I'd hate for it to be the other way around.

Thanks~

I agree with agex000, something doesn't seem right...
The Mobo and CPU are different socket types. Download CPU-Z from here.

That will tell you exactly which mobo and cpu you have.

The motherboard would be kind of hard to mix up, as KV8/K8V is related to the Athlon64s.
