Hi

I am trying to add a second hard drive to my computer, but when I do, the CD and DVD drives no longer show up. The primary HD has an SATA connection and the CD/DVD drives are IDE, and both jumpers are set to cable select. The second HD has an IDE connection. I've tried connecting it to the second IDE port set as slave and cable select, when i do this the hard-drives show up, the CD/DVD drives don't.

Is there something more that i should be doing?

Yes!!!!!!!! Jumper the SATA to Master and the IDE hard drive the same. Make sure that you go into the CMOS and select the SATA as the primary boot device if your mobo doesn't select the SATA as master by default. Your puter is confused. Looking to cable select for the IDE hd's and IDE 1 for your CDroms. Forget Cable select when you jumper your devices and go with the master/slave protocol.

SATA drives aren't jumpered for master/slave, SATA hard drives all connect individually and are considered master devices.
