Question HDD problem ???


i have a new computer and i wanted to transfert my HD from my old computer to my new.

i put in my HD in my new computer it boots up and a screen show up with the following message.....

" start window normally" i enter, the screen goes black and it reboots.

i have windoe xp on my HD, i have partitionmagic, and i dis abled bootmagic.

does any one have a suggestion.

put the winxp cd in the new hard drive with the old hard disk in. boot from the CD and select to use the repair option. i think you must press f8

i did that but it brings me in DOS (c:\windows)

winxp setup CD doesn't even have DOS, i don't think you are using the winXP cd to boot from. you must be using some win98 or winME startup diskette or some other boot floppy.

Make sure that your HD jumper is set to master or cable select and not slave. As well I would check the BIOS settings for the boot order and HD settings since its a new computer

thats sounds like a Windows prob. run the repair option from the install CD
