Hdd Led?

Recently built a new system, (you may already know if you ready my other post)

abit nf7-s mobo
maxtor 120gb HDD
Sempron 2500+ cpu
xfx ge-force 5200 graphics.

everything is working perfect, except one little odd thing.
the hdd light comes on and stays on. there is no indication to show weather or not the hdd is active, there are no problems with the disk or disk speed etc. as i am on the computer right now making this post. im just wondering if this is a common thing to happen, not like i actually care about the LED cause i never look at it, just wondering y its not showing the data status.
just a bit odd to me. and yes i have it pluged into the right socket.

and also if you have any coments on my choice of hardware i'd like to hear them, just as some feedback, wondering if i made decent choices.

It may just knackered or incorrectly plugged in. It doesn't really matter if you ask me. My HDDs are in hot swap bays and they lights for activity come on at the same time no matter what your doing. But its never affected system stability or performance.

make sure its plugged in the right spot on your motherboard

its plugged in in the right spot, ive checked a couple times to make sure, heh oh well i dont care about the led anyway

You could also unplug it, that way you would never need to see its blinding diode light.
