Default HD7970 and 3D Stereoscopic Monitors--Is It a Good Investment?

I'm thinking about getting a 3d monitor now that AMD supports it on the HD7970, but I've read a few internet posts saying that AMD's solution isn't very good, and that it's not worth bothering with. Does anyone know if this is just nVidia fanboy ranting, or is getting a 3d monitor a waste of money for this card? I literally know nothing about 3d monitors except for the refresh rate being higher.

I don't think many of us ever used 3d monitors before. The reason no one is responding. We probably know as much as you, from reading about stuff.

To say the least, I wouldn't worry about it..
