I have a maxtor 120gb 6Y120PO, which I love. But lately it hasn' t been treating me so well
Anyway I am getting a message upon startup that says disk status <BAD> in big capital letters. I have taken the following troubleshooting steps.... I have used the Powermax diagnostic utility which I burned onto a floppy and used on startup it said my hd was bad. Another weird thing that keeps happining is sometimes the computer comes to a screen that says something along the lines of disk read error press the (three finger salute). Anyway after going through this about 5-10 times the machine finally decides to be agreeable and boots! In other scenarios (sp?) the machine gets stuck on windows screen for a 1/2hr. right before login screen. Anyway what would cause this proablem?
