yep, alot of these benchmarks are nothing more than mental masturbation when it comes right down to it, what counts is how it all works together in the real world, and can you do anything with it, if its overkill you wasted $$, if its too slow to do the job then you are wating time
My main machine has 33MB/sec IDE drives, I usually see about 12-14MB/sec with light load conditions, and as little as 3-4MB/sec under a heavy load, sounds slow, but most of the time its plenty, its way faster than transferring a file across my LAN
