Default Having problems, need help

I'm running Windows XP PRO
MB - VIA KT333CF AK38N SHUTTLE RTL - Retail

VGA EVGA|GF4 MX440SE 128MB 4X TV R - Retail

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 333MHz FSB Socket A Processor Model AXDA2500BOX - Retail

Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Unbuffered System Memory Model KVR333X64C25/512

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST340014A 40GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM

CASE ENLGHT|MIDATX 72500AZ P4 USB - Retail

**The computer seems to freeze a lot, sometimes it gets lines going through the screen, and recently the screen would turn black for 1 second, and then go back to the desktop for about 5 seconds, then turn black again, and it kept repeating this process until I reset. I previously had Windows 98 on it, and it did the same thing. I don't know what the problems is, and I don't know how to find out what the problem is. I just reformatted, I did the extended memory check, but thats about it. Does anyone have any clues on what the problem is... or any ideas of how to find the problem?

Thank you

What power supply are you using? It sounds like either your PSU is crapping out, and it just isn't up to snuff.

But I could be wrong.
