Having a computer in a damp basement?

not good for the psu, one day you turn it on and *pzzft* its gone.

that happened once...i did a suicide run (literally suicide run) when it was raining with like 90% humidity and the swamp cooler on, pc was running great, the graphics got all weird on me and the pc went "sssssssSSSSSSSSSSS.....POP" almost sounded like a 2 liter soda bottle opening then getting shot with a bb gun. then the stream of smoke that came out of the case smelled like ...burnt hair i guess.

it's certainly not good as the components might short circuit when it get wet when the moisture in the air condense and probably it will have some kind of problem soon.
